Strand of Pearls
We all have them…those of us who have covenanted with the Living
God… genuine pearls…a strand to which more pearls can be added and
precious ones lost. This is the lesson God is speaking to me these
days as I realize my strand may be missing a few precious pearls.
Time is one of those pearls. We can give it to so many different
"things"… people, work, projects, folly, hobbies, sin. You name it,
the list can go on. We are all busy, and time is such a commodity.
There is nothing wrong with living a well rounded activity- filled
life…as long as we leave ample time for the Lord and our priorities.
The scripture says, "Don't give that which is holy to the dogs,
neither throw your pearls before the pigs, lest perhaps they trample
them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces." Matthew
7:6.
I am presently involved in a dramatic production. I knew going into
it that it would be demanding and challenging, and I was up for that
challenge. I prayed about doing it, committed it to the Lord,
auditioned and got the role. It has been a time of incredible growth
and maturity for me as an actress, yet it has taken much more of my
time than I ever anticipated. I am using quite a lot of my pearls,
not unlike many of you. But where are they being tossed, and to whom
are they being given? I pray that my time given to this show will
bear spiritual fruit. I guess in a way, it already has, for perhaps
this is the season God chose Himself to teach me this very lesson.
Pray for wisdom and guidance whenever opportunities arise that will
demand the pearls God has entrusted to you. Invest them where they
will be returned to you a hundred fold…the dividends are endless!!!!
